Monogamous Reading? Hardly!

For once I found a Meme that I like -- Booking Through Thursday had a question I wanted to answer this week:

One book at a time? Or more than one? If more, are they different types/genres? Or similar?
(We’re talking recreational reading, here—books for work or school don’t really count since they’re not optional.)

I have one book in the bathroom, another in my car and a book next to my bed. The book in my bathroom is always read while I dry my hair. It is held open with a very old brass bookmark and these books are usually for bookclub, become very worn, have water spots and gray hairs sprinkled throughout the pages. The book in my bedroom is usually a non-fiction something I have that will put me to sleep pretty quickly. The book in my car is usually one I keep tucked away --- already read --- well loved and there for emergencies! (what if I had a flat tire? what if I was stuck on the turnpike for hours? what if something happens I would never have thought of?) I think I have a very serious addiction to books!

I have several books on the go at one time, but different types rather than different places. Though there's always one in my handbag.

I understand exactly what you mean: I would hate to be caught bookless! Audible.com is a great help, as I can download books to my iPod, which is easier to carry - but there's something about the written page that I find so much more satisfactory and necessary.

Ha! I read when drying my hair too ... it takes so long that I have to do SOMETHING!
