Booking Through Thursday

What, if any, memorable or special book have you ever gotten as a present? Birthday or otherwise. What made it so notable? The person who gave it? The book itself? The “gift aura?”

A million years ago my husband gave me Richard Avedon's Autobiography . . . It was large and beautiful pictures of his black and white photographs. They were wonderfully expressive of so many emotions. After many years of having this piece of art my daughter asked to have several pages of different portraits that spanned the difficult political tide of the 60's . . . these went to OU. Then my youngest pulled out the book and took several of his painful portraits of people living in the midwest during the 50's. Next I pulled all of the ones that I love of people smiling and experiencing life's joy and put them on one wall. No other book that has been gifted to me has given me more pleasure than Richard Avedon's Autobiography.

That surely was the "gift that keeps on giving." Happy Booking Through Thursday. I have a book giveaway going on; check out my sidebar if you're interested.
