Santa Fe Double Wolf Dare Week

Well here we go!!! WooHoo!! The beginning of the extreme fund raising of Santa Fe High School has officially begun. Benjamin Birdwell is spearheading/managing/ all efforts and I purchased this very insignificant ($$$ wise) necklace and greatly enjoyed all of the bidding that took place with the live auction! A very good way to begin the whole week! More pictures to follow after the opening ceremony tomorrow!

Open House

Well here we are!!! I would have posted earlier but I have been trying to recover from the Hearts for Hearing Open House. We had a wonderful turnout -- everyone who came was wonderfully enthusiastic and complimentary of the whole team. Here are the standout memories for me and definitely not all inclusive:

• Darcy, thank God, had everything organized, assigned tasks and, even more importantly, was greatly encouraging during the whole day. I even stopped her in the middle of the madness and asked her to rearrange the door prizes on my therapy table. Thank you Darcy!
• Teresa admitted early in the day she had promised herself not to obsess too much over details! There was absolutely no obsessing noted during the entire experience!
• Joanna and Teresa --- along with the rest of us --- have anything anyone would ever need to entertain or host.
• We are so fortunate to have such kind and interested family and friends. Everyone's generous compliments and support are wonderfully reinforcing through this whole process!
• Every single person on this team brings so much to the table! Each individual brings a unique perspective to the process of serving people with hearing loss.
• Next open house, we will wear tennis shoes all day and then change into heels right before!! Great idea Ladies!
• Oh and one more thing --- thank you Jace for placing the signs outside (so our hari wouldn't be too blown!) and thank you Jace for moving all of the stuff we ask you to move!!
  

Friday Before our First Workshop

Here are a few pictures from our Friday. Once again the weather sucks and we have had many cancellations!! On another note, we will all remember Dr. Wolfe's shoes . . . he is more prepared than any of the women in this office! Hhhmmmm, very sensible but Melissa and I do have a very reasonable excuse for the high heels this winter--they break through the ice.

We are getting ready to have our first Hearts for Hearing Family Workshop and are very excited with the topic; Parenting with Love and Logic. Love it love it love it. We will see how it goes!! More pictures later!!

Just a review

This week and last week in review: 1st cochlear implant staffing, 1st staffing with Natalie and Kristin, 1st Board Meeting at the new place, 1st issues with the plumbing, 1st meeting with the billing contractor ($$) and 1st month completed!!!! Way to go everyone . . . none of us would be here without the faith and knowledge of all of our coworkers' work ethics! Excellent place to be.

Getting out of the Ruts!

Teresa thought of taking a picture of the ruts in the roads here in OKC. Her analogy is we tend to get stuck in the ruts but when we move out of the ruts they begin to disappear!

First Week

I was sitting in my office and received a phone call from Tom asking me to journal this first year of our new . . . . . hhhmmmm the first thing is what is this first year called? Is it the first year of our profession? the first year of all of working more closely in less constrained quarters? is it the first year of all of us working for a non-profit? It is definitely the first year of a lot of personal and professional growth. So as of January 19 we have settled into a groove and I ready to say we have all completed our first week. We are also experiencing a week weird crazy weather! We received multiple inches of ice last weekend that resulted in OK making the national news (usually our weather that makes it national is tornado-related) and also causing school to cancel this whole week. Interestingly we came in to work today and realized Intrepid (not the real name) moved all of the ice in the parking lot at the "Beast Center" (again not the real name) but had never moved any snow or ice at the "cocklear center" where we previously worked!

But all in all, it has been a week of sorrow and laughs. Smitty's father passed this last weekend and we have all had thoughts, prayers and love for Joanna and her family. We have also had record breaking numbers of babies referred along with fitting HAs on all of these.

Another interesting thought has been the new designers interpretation of our "look" which includes a logo . . . . From Hooters to Hanen to Harry Potter to Winnie the Pooh we are all curious to see where the 'owl' lands.

Here's to 4-8 inches of snow this weekend! Rats! more cancellations this next week or if you are a mom going stir crazy you will brave anything to come to H4H.
